The Crown S4 TV Show Review: Gotta Watch for Princess Diana!
Another absolutely gorgeous but also grim season of The Crown, with the main highlights being the additions of Emma Corrin as Diana Spencer and Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher.
Record of Youth K-Drama Review: Park So Dam and Park Bo Gum Carrying The Show
Record of Youth is a TVN Korean drama on Netflix with a superb cast of characters in a mediocre storyline. It is a romantic drama about adults in their mid-20s figuring out how to accomplish their career dreams while also navigating complex family dynamics/pressures.
The Queen’s Gambit TV Show Review: 10/10 I’m Obsessed
I feel like it’s truly been a long time since I’ve watched something that has held my attention from beginning to end and checks all of the boxes for me.
My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman TV Show Review: Much Needed Wholesome Content
I have nothing but love for this show! My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman is a Netflix TV show where David Letterman interviews a celebrity in front of a live audience.
Schitt’s Creek S6 TV Show Review: Blubbered Like A Bebe
Schitt’s Creek Season 6 dropped on Netflix this year, and the fact that it swept the comedy awards at the 2020 Emmys probably helped speed that process along :). Your favorite crew is back for a final season, with 14 episodes of hilarity and joy.
Ramy S2 Review: Stay Woke and Watch This Show!
Ramy S2 is another really fun collection of episodes, with the same comedic spirit from Season 1 and even better writing than ever! Ramy’s family is back again in New Jersey, up to their same old tricks while also slowly growing as they face new challenges.
Aggretsuko Season 3 Anime Review: Bite-Sized Episodes of Awesomeness
Aggretsuko is a Netflix show that looks deceptively simple on the outside, but it’s AMAZING. In easy-to-digest 15 minute episodes, Aggretsuko is about this red panda named Retsuko who is a shy, Japanese office worker on the surface, but has a hidden side to her that loves screaming death metal.
Rick and Morty TV Show Review: Sometimes brilliant, sometimes dumb fart jokes
PICKLE RICK!!!! The first episode of Rick and Morty I ever watched was called “Pickle Rick,” and even though it was one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen on an animated TV series, it was extremely memorable and funny. Rick and Morty is a show about a genius scientist, Rick, and his very average grandson, Morty.
Your Lie in April Anime Review: Objectively, it’s great! Subjectively…meh.
One of the greatest things about animation is that you don’t have to watch real life actors/actresses butcher the act of fake-playing a musical instrument (I bet all you musicians out there can relate LOL). Your Lie in April is a 22 episode slice-of-life anime (currently on Netflix) about middle schoolers who bond over music.
Japan Sinks: 2020
I usually like apocalyptic movies when they’re done right…but this anime felt like a hot mess of storytelling. Japan Sinks: 2020 is a 10 episode anime series spearheaded by Netflix and based on a novel that was written in the 1970s.
Haikyu!! Seasons 1-3
Some people have already heard me RAVE about this anime, but I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love this show and how it’s changed my view of sports anime forever.
Queer Eye Season 5
Queer Eye and the Fab 5 are back again with all of the heart, the feels, the laughs, and most importantly, the incredible heroes. Season 5 was a solid season, and I liked the subtle tweaks that were made to keep the format fresh.
Fruits Basket 2019 Season 1
Fruits Basket was one of those stories I absolutely adored as middle schooler, in the days when shoujo anime and manga were my life. Flash forward to 2020, in the midst of Covid-19 lockdowns and finding myself with a lot of time in front of my computer, I’m regressing back into my childhood instincts.
Chihayafuru Seasons 1, 2, & 3
Felt inspired to watch more anime after enjoying March Comes In Like a Lion, and so I decided to watch Chihayafuru! Chihayafuru, like March, is a sweet and heartwarming anime about a competitive game, Karuta. Karuta is a Japanese card game that mixes strategy, poetry memorization, and physical agility, played between two people.
March Comes In Like A Lion Seasons 1 & 2
March Comes In Like A Lion is an adorable and sweet coming-of-age anime. The story centers around a reclusive high school boy, Kiriyama Rei, with a tragic past and who is a professional shogi player.
The Half of It
The Half of It is a Netflix movie about a queer Asian-American teenager in a middle-of-nowhere town. It is a romantic comedy, but it sets a more serious tone in its delivery and writing.
Bojack Horseman
Bojack Horseman is a show of superb quality that, for me, is an example of “never judge a book by its cover.” At first glance, this is an animated TV show comedy for adults, where the main character, Bojack Horseman, has a horse’s head on a human body.
Never Have I Ever
Never Have I Ever…laughed so hard at a TV show. HAHA ok that was an incredibly cheesy opening line, but Never Have I Ever is one of those comedic gems that can get you laughing and invested from the very first episode. It clicked all the right buttons for me…
Terrace House: Tokyo 2019-2020 Part 3
Part 3 is definitely binge-worthy and more interesting than Part 1! I liked it just as much as Part 2, but having Tokui off the commentary panel really changes the dynamics.
