Terrace House: Tokyo 2019-2020 Part 3

TV Show: My Immediate Post-Watching Thoughts

  • Part 3 is definitely binge-worthy and more interesting than Part 1! I liked it just as much as Part 2, but having Tokui off the commentary panel really changes the dynamics. I miss that guy! He had great one-liners and brought out some of the best bits from Yamachan. (As far as I know, he’s been fired indefinitely for a tax evasion scandal.)

  • I was really sad to see Peppe leave the house because he was definitely my favorite from Part 2. But I totally understand why he left and I feel like he made the most out of his time at Terrace House. I also feel like he was eager to leave (he didn’t shed a single tear at his goodbye!), so that makes me kind of sad too…

  • Ryo became one of my least favorite members. He behaved in a really immature way and seemed to be defensive all the time. I don’t understand why he was so popular with the ladies in the beginning anymore.

  • Now that I look back on it, there weren’t any catty drama or fights in these episodes. Everyone was pretty civil and kind to each other. Major props to Hana for not getting mad at Vivi for the crazy flirt show she would put on all the time with Ryo.

  • Niini is a bit revolting and ridiculous, but I can’t deny that he’s a great source of entertainment. I’m really glad that the panel found him creepy and a bit disgusting as well and they joked about it a lot. Sometimes when I find moments to be cringeworthy and abhorrent, the panel finds it endearing and brave, which makes me really scratch my head. It just reminds me that there are certainly a lot of cultural differences between Japan and the USA.

  • Yume looks like Alita Battle Angel!!

  • So far I think Yume and Shion are both really gorgeous and sweet, but since they joined in around the final few episodes of Part 3, there’s still much to discover about their true personalities. I think it would be adorable if they became closer and maybe even ended up together, but that just might be coming from my desire to see Niini fail.

  • This part didn’t end with as much as a cliffhanger as Part 2, which I’m really grateful about! I feel like I’m not dying to see what happens next, but at the same time, I’m intrigued..? Also, I’m really interested to see how the show will handle the Covid-19 situation - has production been forced to pause at all? But no matter what, I’m really excited to see Part 4.
