All the Bright Places

Movie Review

All the Bright Places is a romcom that delves into some pretty dark themes about mental health issues in teenagers. It’s based on a book, which I read a while back, and did not find to be particularly memorable. While I was watching, I kept trying to think back on the book and remember what exactly happened, but I could barely remember the storyline. So I guess in a way, this movie felt fresh to me! But also…this movie is not that great - there’s a lot that it did not address and I feel like I don’t truly understand why characters did certain things. But the acting was pretty good and the underlying message is positive…? This movie did not keep my interest from beginning to end, but to be honest, the source material it was adapting from was not that great either.
